On the 11th March 2020, we acknowledge one of the most important days on the health calendar - No Smoking Day. This awareness campaign encourages smokers to quit using cigarettes, to raise awareness of the health risks of smoking and to celebrate those who have kicked the habit in the past.


For many, No Smoking Day also offers a great opportunity to, quite literally, stop smoking for one day and to also take stock of how this habit affects your health and others around you. It serves as a hopeful reminder that quitting is a genuine possibility for the 7.4 million smokers in the UK and raises public awareness of what we can do to help us reach that goal.


The campaign began in 1984 when only as few thousand people decided to take on the big tobacco companies and spread the message that smoking was a danger to public health. In the years since, No Smoking Day has grown to become one of the most significant days on the health and wellbeing calendar for individuals and organisations alike. Backed by the British Heart Foundation and the NHS, we continue to encourage smokers to go smoke-free - even one day can make all the difference.
